As part of a plan announced last year to refocus on its core language technology business, SDL  is transferring its social intelligence business to Social Data Intelligence  (SDI). The transaction includes a token payment of £1, and SDL will subscribe to a $1 million loan note issued by SDI.

A new website reveals no additional information about the apparently newly formed acquirer.

Sprinklr  announced an ambitious expansion of its software platform from social media management to customer experience management. Its new Experience Cloud retains the core social media capabilities and introduces new modules for marketing, advertising, research, care, and commerce.

SOCi Raises $8.5 Million

SOCi  announced that it has received $8.5 million in a series A financing round led by Vertical Venture Partners and Grayhawk Capital. The Stanford University DAPER fund, Peninsula Ventures and Tallwave Capital also participated.

SOCi plans to use the investment to support sales and marketing and to expand technology development.

Twitter Reveals API Plans

Twitter  announced plans to unify its API platform, eliminating differences between its original APIs and the deeper capabilities it acquired in the Gnip  platform. The company made its API product roadmap available through Trello.

Twitter also released direct message and welcome message endpoints and a new Account Activity API.

Networked Insights  introduced Audience.ai, a marketing tool for identifying, understanding and targeting audiences based on online conversations.
