Meltwater announced that it has acquired OculusAI, a software startup specializing in machine learning and image processing. Its technology team will lead development in Meltwater's new Insight Products group from the company's main office in Stockholm.
OculusAI was founded in 2008 as a spin-out of research at the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) in Stockholm. The company has experimented with a variety of applications of computer vision, including face detection, image retrieval and classification, and logotype recognition. Since 2012, it has focused on a mobile app for recognizing products.
