SprinklrSprinklr  announced its new Experience Cloud, which extends the company's social media management portfolio into touchpoints on web sites and in commerce. The company also announced that it has received $46 million in a new investment round led by existing investors Battery Ventures, Intel Capital, and Iconiq Capital.

The new investment brings Sprinklr's total funding to $123.5 million and its valuation to more than $1 billion.

W2O Group Acquires VinTank

VintankW2O Group announced that it has acquired VinTank , a specialist in social media analysis for the wine and hospitality industries. VinTank's team and product join W2O's team and software suite in the deal.

Augure logoAugure  announced that it has received $16 million in a new investment round from existing investors Serena Capital, Ventech, OTC Agregator, and  Amundi Private Equity Funds, plus new investors Seventure Partners and Bpifrance. The company, which emphasizes influencer identification and engagement, revealed 2014 revenue of $10 million.

Augure says the money is intended to support global expansion over the next three years, starting with the opening of a US office in New York in June. The Paris-based company currently has offices in Spain and the UK.

People PatternPeople Pattern  announced the launch of its Audience Insights platform, which combines social media and proprietary data sources to identify segments by demographics, interests and media behaviors. In addition to the SaaS platform, the company offers API access and integration with CRM and marketing automation systems.

Falcon Social Raises $16 Million

Falcon logoFalcon Social  announced that it has received $16 million in a Series B financing round led by Prime Ventures. Existing investors Northcap and Target Partners also participated in the round, which brings the company to $25.33 million in total funding. The company says it will use the money to support product development and global expansion.

Cision  announced that it has acquired Viralheat  to add to its growing set of social media tools. In an announcement, the company said that the Viralheat technologies—available now to US customers—will be extended to the Canadian, Swedish, UK, French and German markets in 2015. The Viralheat team joins Cision as part of the deal.

New Cision was formed last year by the merger of Cision and Vocus by the private equity fund GTCR. The company previously acquired Visible Technologies and Gorkana Group.

Dataminr Geographic AlertingThe real-time information discovery specialist Dataminr  announced that it has raised $130 million in a financing round led by Fidelity. Wellington Management Company, Credit Suisse NEXT Investors, and existing investors Venrock and Institutional Venture Partners also participated in the round.

The partial list of investors continues with John Mack (former CEO of Morgan Stanley), Vikram Pandit (former CEO of Citigroup), Tom Glocer (former CEO of Reuters), Noam Gottesman (founder of the hedge fund GLG); and Nicolas Berggruen (founder of the Berggruen Institute on Governance), plus WorldQuant Ventures, Glynn Capital and Goldman Sachs.

Dataminr says it plans to use the money to meet current demand, expand into new vertical markets, and integrate new datasets into its platform.

NetBase  announced that it has received $24 million in a Series E financing round led by new investor Spring Lake Equity Partners. Existing investors Thomvest Ventures, Altos Ventures, and WestSummit Capital also participated. NetBase says it plans to use the money to support product innovation, alliances and global expansion.

Hottolink Acquired Socialgist

Hottolink  has acquired Effyis Inc., parent of the data provider Socialgist  and Boardreader.com. The $22 million, all-cash deal was announced in November and closed in January. Socialgist now operates as a wholly owned subsidiary of Hottolink.

Hottolink (TSE:3680) is publicly traded, providing a rare look at the financial details of a company in the social media analysis business.

Geofeedia Raises $3 Million

Geofeedia  announced that it has raised $3 million in a new investment led by Hyde Park Venture Partners. Existing investors Tim Kopp, David Gupta, and Gene Delaney also participated. The company, which has raised a total of $6.8 million, says 2014 sales were more than $3 million, up 857% from 2013.

IBM Watson Acquires AlchemyAPI

IBM  announced that it has acquired AlchemyAPI  for its Watson business. IBM plans to add AlchemyAPI's core technologies to the Watson platform and its natural language processing and computer vision services to the IBM Bluemix platform. AlchemyAPI will remain available as part of the Watson portfolio.
