Sprinklr announced that it has received $40 million in a Series D round of funding led by ICONIQ Capital. Battery Ventures and Intel Capital also participated in the round.

Sprinklr also announced a social paid media management module, which will be available to all clients in six weeks.

At the end of March, Twitter acquired two companies specializing in social media analysis for television: Mesagraph in France and SecondSync in the UK. Twitter also announced an expansion of its partnership with Kantar (UK, Spain) and pointed out its partnerships in social TV with Nielsen (USA, Italy, Australia), Video Research (Japan) and GfK (Germany, Austria, and the Netherlands).

Twitter previously acquired Trendrr and Bluefin Labs, both US companies specializing in SMA for television.

Connectivity Raises $6.35 Million

Connectivity announced that it has received $6.35 million in a Series A investment round led by Greycroft Partners. Rincon Venture Partners, Daher Capital, Double M Partners, TenOneTen Ventures, Eytan Elbaz and SLP Ventures also participated. Connectivity offers a customer intelligence platform for engagement, customer profiling, interest analysis and competitive benchmarking.

Connectivity, previously Solfo, is also the parent company of local search sites YellowBot.com and weblocal.ca.

NetBase Launches LIVE Pulse Suite

Netbase brand pulseNetBase launched LIVE Pulse, a suite of real-time analytics views for display and mobile applications. The lineup starts with Brand Pulse, a summary of recent activity around a single brand, and will expand with Competitor Pulse, Trend Pulse, Leader Board Pulse and Image Pulse.

Blab rolled out BlabPredicts2, an update to its platform and the first to be offered beyond a short list of launch customers last year. Blab's technology is designed to predict the topics, timing and channels of online conversations up to 72 hours in advance, based on its recognition of patterns in the earliest stages of development.

Piqora announced that it has received $7.7 million in a series A round led by DFJ Ventures. Altos, Freestyle, Baseline, Lazerow and Firebolt Ventures also participated in the round, which moves the company's total capital invested above $11 million. The company's management and analytics suite targets visually oriented social media (Pinterest, Instagram and Tumblr).

Piqora also announced Instagram Conversation Manager, a multi-column tool for managing multiple Instagram accounts (analogous to TweetDeck).

Dun & Bradstreet (NYSE: DNB) announced that it has acquired the Fliptop social data matching business, which matches email addresses to individual profiles that include social network accounts. D&B plans to integrate the acquired technology as an enrichment to its existing database and services.

Fliptop continues as an independent company, which is now focused on its predictive lead scoring application.

Union Metrics introduced two new products: Union Metrics for Instagram and the Union Metrics Social Suite, which combines the capabilities of the company's products for Twitter, Tumblr and Instagram.

Pricing for Union Metrics for Instagram starts at $199/month; the full suite starts at $500/month.

Argyle Social has informed its customers that it plans to cease operating at the end of May. VentureBeat has an interview with Argyle founder/CEO Adam Covati and the text of the company's announcement.

Gavagai announced that it has received SEK 21 million (approximately US$3.2 million) in a new investment round intended to fund the company's international expansion. The company also plans to open a US office.

Twitter Buys Gnip

Twitter announced that it has agreed to acquire its data-reseller partner Gnip in a bid to make its data more accessible to customers. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Update: In its second-quarter 10-Q filing (EDGAR) with the US SEC, Twitter revealed that the price for Gnip was $134.1 million:

In May 2014, the Company completed its acquisition of privately held Gnip, Inc. ("Gnip"), a leading provider of social data and analytics headquartered in Boulder, Colorado. The acquisition is expected to allow the Company to further enhance its data analytics capabilities. Under the terms of the acquisition, the Company agreed to pay $107.3 million in cash and issue a total of 0.6 million shares of common stock including shares of restricted stock subject to continued employment in consideration of all of the issued and outstanding shares of capital stock of Gnip. In addition, the Company agreed to issue up to 0.4 million shares of the Company's stock as a result of assumed Gnip equity awards held by individuals, who will continue to provide services to the Company. The fair value of total consideration of $134.1 million, including the earned portion of assumed stock options and other equity awards, was preliminarily allocated to the acquired tangible and intangible assets and assumed liabilities based on their estimated fair values at closing as follows: $23.2 million to developed technology, $9.3 million to customer relationships, $9.1 million to tangible assets acquired, $5.8 million to liabilities assumed, $6.4 million to deferred tax liability recorded, and the excess $104.7 million of the purchase price over the fair value of net assets acquired was recorded as goodwill. This goodwill is primarily attributable to the potential expansion and future development of the Company's data products, expected synergies arising from the acquisition and the value of acquired talent.

Intergen Spins Out Signal

Intergen announced the formation of a separate company for Signal, its social media monitoring tool for public safety, emergency management and corporate security. In addition to holding a major ownership position in the new Signal Corporation , Intergen will provide development and technical support to the new company, and it will continue as a Signal reseller in New Zealand and Australia.

Spredfast and Mass Relevance announced a merger of equals to integrate social media with marketing across media channels. The combined company will retain the Spredfast name.
