Dataminr announced that it has received $30 million in a new round of funding led by Venrock and Institutional Venture Partners (IVP).

GfK announced its formation of a Global Social Media Intelligence Center in Vienna, based in part on its acquisition of Sensemetric, which will become a core component of the new center.

Sensemetric had been a GfK preferred partner since 2011. Its eponymous product has been rebranded as the GfK Social Media Intelligence Dashboard.

The working group known as The Conclave released proposed standards for sentiment, opinion and advocacy, completing the first version of its Complete Social Media Standards (PDF). The new sections are open to comment until 31 July.

At its Big Boulder conference today, Gnip announced the Big Boulder Initiative to address major issues confronting the social data industry. The initiative is expected to include three meetings annually, plus ongoing discussions and projects.

Nexalogy Environics announced Nx API, a REST API that provides access to search, monitoring, and analysis of social media data. Pricing starts at $75/month with an available free trial period.

uberMetrics Technologies announced its Series A round of investment from Klingel Gruppe and High-Tech Gründerfonds. The size of the investment was not announced, beyond the expectation that it will be "seven figures."

uberMetrics Technologies spun out of Humboldt University of Berlin in 2011.

Qatar Science and Technology Park (QSTP) and iHorizons QSTP announced an agreement to develop technologies for Arabic social media analysis, focusing initially on Twitter data.
