Echobot announced that it has received €750,000 from Future Fund Heilbronn. The company's first outside investment is targeted to fund continued growth and hiring.

FACE announced Pulsar TRAC (topic, reach, audience, content), a social media analysis platform that combines content analysis with network analysis and author profiles. The company says that the new platform moves beyond keyword tracking into measuring conversation reach, mapping brand audiences and tracking content diffusion.

DigitalGlobe announced that it has acquired Tomnod , a specialist in crowdsourced satellite imagery analysis. Tomnod is also the developer of TweetMap, a geospatially-oriented Twitter monitoring tool that supports the crowdsourced intelligence mission.

SinoTech Group announced Buzz Equity, a simple social media analysis platform with coverage of both Western and Asian sources. Buzz Equity follows the freemium model, with search, monitoring, alerts, and the ability to filter results by content-analysis metrics in the free version. It also calculates a proprietary Buzz Equity score based on an analysis of online mentions and reach. The paid version adds trend analysis, charts, additional analytics, and increased coverage for $19.95 per month.

MindMixer , the developer of an online engagement platform for civic, education and health care organizations, announced that it has acquired VoterTide, a social media analysis firm specializing in political campaigns and issues.

Threat Pattern announced its company launch with a plan to apply traditional intelligence analysis to social media and other data sources. As the name implies, the company's focus is on detecting threats to clients' assets, brands, and reputations.

Threat Pattern CEO Blake W. Mobley is a former policy analyst and counterintelligence officer, the author of Terrorism and Counterintelligence: How Terrorist Groups Elude Detection. G2 Investment Group provided initial investment support to the company.

Social Snap CEO Nan Dawkins has announced that the service will cease operations as a result of an inability to attract sufficient capital on acceptable terms. For the next two to three months, the company will offer non-exclusive, perpetual licenses to its code base, supporting modules such as influencer scoring, campaign tracking, content performance reporting, and reporting across social media and Google Analytics.

Meltwater announced that it has acquired OculusAI, a software startup specializing in machine learning and image processing. Its technology team will lead development in Meltwater's new Insight Products group from the company's main office in Stockholm.

OculusAI was founded in 2008 as a spin-out of research at the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) in Stockholm. The company has experimented with a variety of applications of computer vision, including face detection, image retrieval and classification, and logotype recognition. Since 2012, it has focused on a mobile app for recognizing products.
