Durrants Invests in Brandwatch

Durrants has taken a stake in Brandwatch. Brandwatch plans to use the investment to expand its current offer in the US and add coverage of Russia and China. As part of the deal, Metrica (which Durrants acquired in 2009), will use the Brandwatch platform in its social media work. Details of the transaction were not disclosed.

Curator HDInfoNgen released Curator HD, a free iPad app for creating and editing personalized newsletters. Curator requires a free Google Reader account; InfoNgen customers have the additional option of using their saved searches in the new tool. Curator publishes links and newsletters to email, Twitter, Facebook, Tumblr and Google Reader.

Cisco Launches Monitoring Platform

Cisco Systems (NASDAQ: CSCO) introduced Cisco SocialMiner, a social media monitoring tool with routing and workflow features for the customer support environment. Installed on a Cisco server on the customer's network, SocialMiner monitors RSS sources, Twitter, and Facebook.

Colligent Finds What Fans Also Like

Colligent dashboardColligent launched its tool for analyzing consumer affinities revealed in online social network activity. The system counts actions (such as favorites, likes, and retweets) in the top social networks to determine fan engagement with a large set of identified entities.

Analysis in Colligent is focused on finding non-obvious correlations in the fan populations of multiple entities, such as brands, bands, media, and celebrities. Starting with a set of fans of a brand, for example, the system identifies radio stations, TV shows, bands, songs, and other brands that are also liked by the same fans. The system includes filters to narrow its search by geography, demographics, and market segments.

Colligent's initial customers are major media companies, who are exploring the system's usefulness in sales, marketing, and programming. The company plans to expand its focus from the music and television industries to consumer brands early next year.

Sysomos announced Facebook Page Central, a tool for managing and moderating Facebook pages from within Sysomos's Heartbeat platform. The tool includes rule-based auto-deletion of posts, email notification of new comments with keyword matching, workflow features, and reporting on post/comment volume, engagement, leading topics, fans and sentiment.
